English as a Second Language

Students whose native language is not English will be required to take the Oxford ESL Placement Test. The test consists of a Use of English and Listening section. Students are also required to write an essay.

Exemptions include a TOEFL total score of at least 75 iBT, IELTS overall band score of 6, Duolingo English test score of 110, or SAT Evidenced-Based Reading/Writing score of 450.

Test scores are valid for one year. Students who are absent from the college for a period of more than 12 months must retake the Oxford Online ESL Placement Test to reevaluate students' skills. For exceptional circumstances, students may inquire about retesting through the Testing Office.
