Just follow the steps below to register for classes and access the resources you need to reach your goals. If you’ve gained knowledge or experience outside the classroom, ask us about Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). You might be able to earn credit for what you already know.

Get Credit for Your Work
You’ve worked hard and it counts here. Whether you’ve taken college classes before, completed training on the job, earned industry certifications, or served in the military, we’ll help you make the most of your past experience.
Atlantic Cape accepts transfer credits from other accredited colleges and universities, and we also offer Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) options. That means you may be able to earn college credit for what you already know - from workplace learning to professional licensure to volunteer service.
You’ve built knowledge and skills over time. We’re here to help you turn that into progress toward your degree.
If you’ve taken courses at another accredited college or university, you may be able to transfer those credits to Atlantic Cape. We’ll evaluate your transcripts and help you apply as many credits as possible toward your degree or certificate. It’s a smart way to save time and money.
Pro Tip: Be sure to have your official transcripts sent by your other college directly to our Admissions Office for evaluation.
Not all learning happens in a classroom. If you’ve gained knowledge through work, military service, training programs, or professional certifications, Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) might be right for you.
Through PLA, you can:
Earn credit for workplace training
Use industry licensure or certification toward your degree
Submit a portfolio demonstrating your skills and experience
We’ll guide you through the process so you get credit where credit’s due. You'll want to get in contact with a Navigator at our One-Stop Welcome Center to guide you through this process.
If you’ve served in the military, you may be eligible for college credit for training you completed during service. We use recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE) to evaluate your Joint Services Transcript (JST).
Request your JST online and send it directly to Enrollment Services or email it to transcripts@atlanticcape.edu. You may also want to explore our Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) option for additional credit based on your experience.
If you graduated from a New Jersey Police Academy, you may be eligible for up to 18 credits toward a degree in Criminal Justice. Graduates of a NJ Corrections Academy may qualify for up to 10 credits.
To apply, enroll in the Criminal Justice A.S. program and send a copy of your academy certificate to Enrollment Services or email transcripts@atlanticcape.edu.
