The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers programs that provide assistance for tuition, fees, and other educational expenses for eligible dependents:
The Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA) Program (Chapter 35): Offers up to 36 months of education benefits to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition, or who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition.
Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship: Available to children and spouses of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001. Covers full in-state tuition costs at public schools and offers a monthly housing allowance and a book stipend.
