New Jersey AI Ready Sprinternships Offer Atlantic Cape Students Paid Experiential Learning Opportunity

MAYS LANDING – Atlantic Cape Community College, in collaboration with the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, was recently awarded $4,000 to support its participation in the New Jersey AI Ready Sprinternships Initiative.

The Sprinternships Initiative, developed in partnership with Break Through Tech, will provide up to five Atlantic Cape students with a three–week, paid experiential learning internship opportunity involving employer–sponsored artificial intelligence projects.

This pilot program is intended to expand equitable access to applied AI experiences while strengthening connections between colleges and employers, and informing the future expansion of the Sprinternships model.

“These students will be able to work in the company (Break Through Tech), gain experience and work as a team. These five students will learn how to work as a team, then work on a project that they have to make sure to finish. They will also get paid, so I think it's a very good initial opportunity for them, especially if a lot of them have never had experience working,” said Assistant Professor of Business Information Systems & Aviation Studies Michele Togashi.

Atlantic Cape will host a Sprinternship information session on Thursday, September 10, 12:30 p.m. in Room C3. Current students who have completed at least one credit–bearing computer science, data science or related course are eligible to apply. This is a tremendous opportunity for students who are majoring, or plan on majoring, in computing, information technology, network engineering, data science or another related discipline. Deadline to apply is Sunday, September 27.

If selected for the Sprinternship Initiative, the students will work from December 28 through January 15 during the College’s winter break.

Registration is now open for all eligible interested students at breakthroughtech.tfaforms.net/f/breakthroughtech-program-interest-v5. For more information, please contact Michele Togashi at mtogashi@atlanticcape.edu.
