Atlantic Cape Esports Team Opens 2025-26 In-Person Match Competition Season

MAYS LANDING — The Atlantic Cape Community College Buccaneers Esports team opened its in-person 2025-26 season in matches against Rider University, Stockton University and Camden County College at Stockton’s Galloway Township, N.J. campus.

Atlantic Cape Esports matchThe Buccaneers received standout performances in both Super Smash games against Camden County College. Sophomore Joseph Woodruff won the first set by taking eight stocks playing as Mario to lead the Bucs to a 2-0 sweep. Woodruff was joined in this match by teammates Mario Ruiz, Maeve Power, Ethon Charles and Matthew Chow.

Against Rider, in the second Super Smash game, the Buccaneers played three very evenly-matched competitive sets that came down to each team’s final stock before dropping a 2-1 decision. The Buccaneers next Super Smash in-person game will be on October 23 against Princeton University and Georgian Court University at Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J.

In Overwatch, the Buccaneers dropped two tough games 2-0 to Camden County College and Stockton University, respectively. The Bucs will play their first online Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) match on Thursday, October 2 at 8 p.m. against an opponent that is to be determined.
