Atlantic Cape’s Dr. Natalie Devonish Inducted into Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame

MAYS LANDING — In front of many admiring family, friends, and former and current co-workers, Atlantic Cape Community College’s Dr. Natalie Devonish, Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, was inducted into the Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame during a formal ceremony at the Linwood Country Club on June 22.

“I am truly honored and blessed to stand before you to receive this honor for my service and volunteerism. It is with immense gratitude that I stand here, and acknowledge and accept this award for the service done outside of the 40-hour work week,” Devonish said during her acceptance speech remarks. “Volunteering is truly a noble act, and is the very core of humanity and who I am. Our actions as volunteers have the potential to transform lives and shape communities. Volunteering truly reminds me of the power we have to make a difference.”

Devonish has been an integral part of Atlantic Cape’s leadership over the past decade. First, in 2013, as the Assistant Director of Student Support Services, next as the Acting Director of Counseling Support Services (currently the Center for Student Success) in 2016, and then as Dean of the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus & Workforce Development upon her return to the college in 2019 prior to commencing her current role in 2021.

Over the years, Devonish has been recognized for her selfless contributions to the community as Program President for Youth Exposure Mentor & Enrichment Program, as a member of the Atlantic City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Executive Committee member for the Atlantic City Branch of the NAACP and Atlantic City Housing Authority. She has also received awards, such as the Atlantic City Chapter NAACP Youth Leader Award, New Jersey Rotary Club State Vocational Award, Black Women Rock-Atlantic City and was named to the 2012 Top 40 Under 40 in Atlantic County.

“It is through our collective efforts that we create a ripple effect of change and inspire others to join us in our pursuit to do more to help make a just and compassionate society,” Devonish continued. “I really want to thank all of the women who created this magnificent event back in 1996 because without you, some people would forget who the true warriors are and that is the woman.”

On this evening, Devonish was honored along with Margaret (Peggy) Mallen-Walczak, Suzanne Marino, Donna Michael-Ziereis, Robin M. Stoloff and Nicole R. Williams.

Since its founding in 1996 by Dr. Jacqueline McBride-Jones, the Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame (ACWHF) has been honoring in perpetuity women of Atlantic County whose contributions have been of greatest value to the betterment of the county. The ACWHF remains dedicated to acknowledging women who have contributed so much to the residents and the overall community of Atlantic County. The ACWHF is also pleased to offer scholarships to graduating high school seniors who exhibit abilities to pursue a course of study that will help these young women blaze new trails of their own.

This year’s $500 scholarship winners were Mary Wagner, Atlantic City High School, who is attending Villanova University; Tasmiah Haque, Egg Harbor Township High School, who is attending Boston College; Tiffany Paretti, Hammonton High School, who is attending University of South Dakota; and Tiffany Park, Mainland High School, who is attending University of Pennsylvania.
