Atlantic Cape Professor Stephanie Natale-Boianelli Receives Prestigious Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award

MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College English Professor Stephanie Natale-Boianelli was presented with the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award in recognition of her excellence and dedication to teaching over the past 18 years during the 56th Annual Commencement Ceremony on May 18 on the Mays Landing campus.
“As someone who loves few things more than learning, working with students has always been important to me and as someone who grew up in Atlantic County, working with Atlantic Cape students in particular has been meaningful work,” Natale-Boianelli said. “To be recognized for this work, especially with past and recent students cheering for me from the graduating class, meant everything.”
Atlantic Cape presents the Lindback Award to strong teachers who have contributed significantly to the education of the college’s students. The honoree is a role model, an individual who stands out from the rest, whose accessibility to students, high standards, and openness to new ideas and new ways of teaching stand as a shining example for others in our community of scholars.
“In her 18 years at Atlantic Cape, Professor Natale-Boianelli has demonstrated expertise in her field, committed to her student’s learning and has engaged in numerous activities at the college,” Atlantic Cape President Dr. Barbara Gaba said.
The Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation of Philadelphia endows this award, which recognizes outstanding teachers at certain colleges and universities in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, to an esteemed member of the faculty who has significantly enhanced the process of student learning, effected the motivation to learn, inspired the greater interest of academic pursuit, and influenced the lives of students. The award has been presented for the past 40 years and comes with a $4,000 stipend.
“To even be nominated for the Lindback Award, considering the company of outstanding professors who have received it before me, is an honor. I have had the good fortune to work with and learn from many of them. My name being added to this list is a direct result of all the Atlantic Cape community has done for me,” Natale-Boianelli said.
Natale-Boianelli, who earned a B.A. in English from William Paterson University and a M.A. in Literature from Rosemont College, started at Atlantic Cape in 2005 as an adjunct faculty member before becoming a full-time assistant professor in 2006. In 2016, she was promoted to associate professor and in 2021 she became a full professor. She has served as the coordinator of the Accelerated Learning Program, and currently leads faculty workshops, serves as a mentor to new incoming faculty, is an advisor to the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Coordinator, and teaches honors courses, Literature, World Myths & Legends, and Composition.
