Open to all faculty and staff, this session provides an overview of how accommodations are facilitated at Atlantic Cape. We will explore what accommodations are, how students obtain them, and the responsibilities of students, faculty, and staff throughout the accommodation process.

Learn simple ways to make Microsoft Word documents easier for everyone to access and navigate. This session covers common accessibility issues involving headings, lists, links, images, tables, and color, along with how to use Word's built-in Accessibility Checker to find and fix problems.

Learn how to create PowerPoint presentations that are easier for everyone to see, understand, and navigate. We will cover slide layouts and titles, reading order, images and alternative text, color and contrast, and how to use PowerPoint's built-in Accessibility Checker.

Not all PDFs are created equally. This session explains what makes a PDF accessible, common problems that can prevent someone from accessing its content, and some quick ways to identify accessibility issues. We will also discuss when a PDF can be easily improved and when it may be better to replace it with a more accessible format or seek assistance.

Learn how to monitor and maintain your required Blackboard Ally course accessibility score. This quick session reviews how to interpret Ally indicators, address common accessibility issues, improve course materials, and understand the alternative formats available to students.

Small changes can make a Blackboard course much easier to navigate and use. This session covers practical improvements faculty can make to course content, including headings, links, images, documents, multimedia, and course organization. We will also look beyond the Ally score at accessibility practices that automated tools may not identify.

This session introduces practical ways to create a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities. We will discuss common disability-related barriers, appropriate language and etiquette, and simple practices faculty and staff can use to support access and inclusion across the college.

In this introductory workshop, faculty and staff will explore practical ways to consider accessibility when selecting or adopting technology, instructional materials, and digital resources. Participants will learn about common accessibility barriers, helpful questions to ask, basic good practices, and when to seek additional guidance or a formal accessibility review.
