MAYS LANDING – Seeking to strengthen communication, collaboration and shared governance throughout Atlantic Cape Community College’s three campuses, Dr. Jason Abreu, the 10th president in the College’s 62-year history, recently established the President’s Advisory Council for the 2026-27 academic year.

The Council, which is comprised of faculty members and staff representatives from various departments across the College, met for its initial meeting on October 26 at the Mays Landing campus to provide feedback, share individual perspectives, and discuss institutional opportunities and challenges.

“Being new to this role, the community, and the College, I see the President’s Advisory Council as an important opportunity to listen to a diverse group of individuals who bring a range of experiences and perspectives to Atlantic Cape. Through these conversations, we can identify key themes, explore opportunities for growth, and gather meaningful feedback that will help inform the College’s priorities, strengthen our direction, and support the continued success of our students and the institution,” said Dr. Abreu.

A wide range of topics emanated from the roundtable discussion including generating additional revenue, student enrollment and retention, artificial intelligence, community partnerships, course delivery and modality, strategic planning and more.

Many agreed that the College’s strengths come from the dedicated individuals, both faculty and staff, who work at the institution’s three campuses in Mays Landing, Atlantic City and Cape May Court House. Atlantic Cape’s employees are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of each and every student by ensuring that their experiences are personalized and geared towards helping them achieve their goal of graduating with an associate degree.

Through regular meetings, the Council will serve as a collaborative forum for dialogue, innovation, and employee engagement, ensuring that diverse voices help inform institutional priorities and support Atlantic Cape's continued growth and success.
