What challenges did you overcome?
I overcame a fear of public speaking thanks to Professor Keith Forrest’s teaching. That was crucial in becoming a leader, professor and radio host. Atlantic Cape helped me overcome chronic lateness. I also learned how to become an effective communicator, which has been important across my life.
Did you attend classes at Atlantic Cape in-person, online, hybrid or remote?
I attended classes in-person and online.
Who would you like to thank?
Professors Keith Forrest, Dr. Augie Nigro, Rich Russell, Dr. Jennie Field, Pete Brophy, Susan Van Rossum and Michael Bolicki.
How did earning a degree from Atlantic Cape prepare you for your next steps?
Atlantic Cape prepared me to pursue a bachelor's and master's degree at Rowan University. Now I’m working on my PhD at Clemson University. Mentoring Professor Keith Forrest classes prepared me for a career in higher education (I now teach at both alma maters and at Southern New Hampshire University). Editing the Atlantic Cape Review led to a freelance journalism portfolio and a 2018 book, Wildwoods Houses Through Time. Being involved with WRML inspired a love of radio that continued with programming and hosting at Rowan Radio, and now I am a host on 92.9 WZML in Bryn Mawr. I learned leadership skills that prepared me to serve as president of the Wildwood Historical Society.
What activities, clubs or sports were you involved with?
I was Editor of Atlantic Cape Review, Station Manager of 107.9 WRML, Communication Major of the Year Runner Up in 2015 and Mentor of Communication classes.
