What are your plans after graduation?

My plan is to directly enter the Preschool to Grade 3 education field. My time at Atlantic Cape has provided me with a strong foundation in child development, early childhood education principles and classroom management basics.

These opportunities were crucial for a returning adult student and mother to successfully earn a degree.

 

What activities, clubs or sports were you involved with?

I was part of Phi Theta Kappa.

 

Describe the biggest challenge(s) you faced and how you overcame it/them.

The biggest challenge was balancing the demanding responsibilities of being a mother of four with the rigorous requirements of college. Time management was a constant struggle, often leading to late nights and feelings of being overwhelmed. Overcoming this involved unwavering determination, meticulous organization and the crucial support of my husband. Reminding myself of my "why" – personal growth and setting an example for my children – fueled my perseverance and helped me navigate the complexities to reach graduation.

 

Did you attend classes in-person, online, hybrid or remote?

I attended all of my classes at Atlantic Cape online.

 

Who would you like to thank for helping you achieve your college or career goals?

My deepest gratitude goes to my husband, Tom. He was my constant rock and biggest cheerleader throughout my college journey. His unwavering support lifted me during tough times and his belief in me often surpassed my own. I wouldn't have achieved this without his love and encouragement.

 

What does graduating from Atlantic Cape mean to you?

For me, graduating from Atlantic Cape, as a mother of four, who had her first child at 18, represents a profound personal victory. It signifies the culmination of years of juggling the immense responsibilities of raising my family with the determined pursuit of my educational goals. This diploma isn't just a piece of paper; it's tangible proof that even with significant life challenges and delayed dreams, anything is possible through perseverance and hard work. It means setting a powerful example for my children, showing them firsthand that learning is a lifelong journey and that it's never too late to chase your aspirations.

I want them to see that obstacles can be overcome and that dedication to one's goals yields meaningful results. Graduating from Atlantic Cape also represents a personal milestone I once thought might be out of reach. It's a testament to my resilience, my commitment to self-improvement, and the unwavering support of those around me. It signifies the closing of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another, filled with new opportunities and the confidence that comes with achieving a significant personal ambition. This degree empowers me and validates the sacrifices made along the way, solidifying my belief in my own capabilities and the bright future ahead.

 

What would you say to someone who is thinking about attending Atlantic Cape? Why should they consider Atlantic Cape?

One of the best things about it is the strong sense of community. With smaller classes, you'll get more personalized attention from professors and have a real chance to connect with your classmates. There are also tons of clubs, organizations, and sports to get involved in, making it easy to find your people and build lasting relationships. It's a supportive environment where you'll feel like you belong and have the chance to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
