Class of 2024, A.A.S. Nursing
Nursing and Health Science

“Being a nursing student has provided me with the opportunity to fulfill my dream of being a nurse and making a true difference in the lives of others. It has allowed me to further build upon my education, exercise my ability to think critically, and show me that being a nurse is exactly what I am meant to do.”

What are your plans after graduation?

Upon graduating, I plan to commit time to prepare for my NCLEX. After passing the boards I hope to start working as a registered nurse at a reputable hospital to gain a good foundation and, soon after, further my education by working towards my BSN.

Why did you choose Atlantic Cape?

When I was searching for nursing programs within a reasonable distance, I found Atlantic Cape and it was close to home. But, more importantly, Atlantic Cape allowed the majority of my previous credits from Fairleigh Dickinson University to transfer over.

What opportunities has Atlantic Cape provided you?

Being a nursing student has provided me with the opportunity to fulfill my dream of being a nurse and making a true difference in the lives of others. It has allowed me to further build upon my education, exercise my ability to think critically, and show me that being a nurse is exactly what I am meant to do.

What activities, clubs or sports were you involved with during your time at Atlantic Cape?

Although I was not a member of any clubs or sports here at Atlantic Cape, I do serve as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Reserve.

Describe the biggest challenge(s) you faced and how you overcame it/them.

As I look back on the last two years, my biggest challenge was learning how to balance school, work, military duties and my personal life. Deciding to go back to school was a huge decision that changed my lifestyle drastically, but it served as a sacrifice of true purpose. I have always been a person that wears multiple hats. I work well under pressure, but being in a program as competitive as nursing definitely tested that theory. There were moments when I questioned myself and my abilities. Periods of transitions that weren't necessarily the easiest. Moments of uncertainty, and unfortunately times of sadness and grief. But overall, these challenges taught me to always have faith, believe in myself and trust the journey.

Did you attend classes at Atlantic Cape in-person, online, hybrid or remote?

I attended classes in-person and online.

Who would you like to thank for helping you achieve your college or career goals?

I would like to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support. They continuously encouraged me to keep pushing forward and often reminded me that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. During times of struggle and doubt I am grateful to have had shoulders to lean on and lift me up when I needed it the most.

What does graduating from Atlantic Cape mean to you?

To me, it symbolizes the start of a new beginning and endless opportunities.
