"Every day that I step on campus is rewarding for me. I love working in higher education, being on a college campus, watching students enroll/excel/graduate, and getting the opportunity to do what I do best every day which is to write and be creative. I am grateful for each day that I get here at Atlantic Cape. After being through a difficult layoff in 2017, I do not take my job for granted."

How long have you been an employee at Atlantic Cape?

I started on October 5, 2022.

What is your fondest Atlantic Cape memory?

My fondest memory was honestly the day I received my offer of employment. This was the career that I really wanted for many years after graduating from the College in 2018. I interviewed for this position in 2021, but wasn't hired, so when I got the telephone call in 2022 it was a tremendously-exciting moment for me.

Who has helped you the most during your time at Atlantic Cape?

I have learned a tremendous amount from Chief Marketing Officer Laura Batchelor about our department and the business of college marketing, and Advertising & Media Manager Nicole Thompson about how to properly market our College to current and propsective students. There are numerous other employees at Atlantic Cape who I have great professional relationships with who help me all of the time.

Tell us about your educational journey and what it has meant to you.

My educational journey has had its peaks and valleys. Fresh out of high school in 1991 I attended Ocean County College, majored in Education and played on its ice hockey team. I transferred to Atlantic Cape for the Spring 1992 Semester and took classes here part- and full-time until Spring 1996 when I decided to leave to start working full-time with only 19 credits to go. For 20 years between 1997-2017 I created a professional career in public/media relations, newspaper journalism and economic development for myself until a layoff in 2017 ended it all. At that time, from extensive prodding from my wife, I returned to Atlantic Cape in 2017 to finish my associate degree, which I did in May 2018. I then enrolled at Thomas Edison State University and earned my Bachelor's Degree in English in September 2020.

Did you take classes and/or earn a degree from Atlantic Cape?

Yes. I graduated from Atlantic Cape in 2018 with my Associate Degree in General Studies. It's the degree that required the fewest number of math classes, which I am terrible at.
