I would like to thank Karen McCormick for helping me with the process and making phone calls to get me started with going back to school. I would also like to thank my blackjack teacher Dora Sugranez from the Casino Career Institute for teaching our class blackjack, mini baccarat, Spanish 21, & roulette. She was an amazing & inspiring teacher with a sincere work ethic and a wonderful sense of humor.

How did earning a degree from Atlantic Cape prepare you for your next steps?
Getting the necessary training by taking casino gaming courses such as blackjack and craps provided me with the skills required to pursue a new and exciting career in the casino industry!

The grant I received provided me with the resources I needed in order to go back to college in order to pursue a positive career path. It was during COVID and I was facing many difficult challenges pertaining to my finances and career. Going back to school and taking casino gaming courses opened amazing doors for me.
What challenges did you overcome?
I overcame the fear of changing careers by acknowledging my fear, gaining the required skills, practicing at school and at home, auditioning for a new job, and vicualizing me successfully working in a new field!
