Atlantic Cape’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Chapter, Alpha Delta Mu, Inducts New Members for 2022-23

MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College’s Alpha Delta Mu chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society officially swore in its 2022-23 inductee class during its 44th Annual Induction Ceremony on Tuesday, November 15 in Walter E. Edge Hall Theatre on the Mays Landing campus.

Dedicating themselves to the PTK’s platform of scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service, the 21 newly-inducted members were individually called to the theatre’s stage by PTK Advisor Stephanie Natale-Boianelli to sign the honor society’s membership book, and take a symbolic flower and candle.

“The induction ceremony is a pivotal moment for these outstanding students in that it both recognizes what they've already achieved and opens new pathways for continued growth through the PTK community, mission and opportunities,” Natale-Boianelli said. “Planning and participating in the induction ceremony is only the beginning of their PTK journey, and in addition to their academic achievements, this year's students have already demonstrated their leadership skills and professionalism.”

Officers for the 22-23 school year were sworn in by Natale-Boianelli as well and they included: President Maya Swift, Vice President of Fellowship Alexis Cabrera, Vice President of Scholarship Naomi Giammona, Vice President of Service Caelah Powers, Recording Officers Erica Ireland and Brianna Petrosh, and Public Relations, Harper Showalter.

Guest speakers from Atlantic Cape included President Dr. Barbara Gaba, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Josette Katz, Dean of Professional and Liberal Studies Dr. Denise Coulter and PTK alumnus and Assistant Professor of English Richard Russell.

“PTK offers so many opportunities for members from engaging in leadership training and practice to working with students who share similar academic values and ambitions,” Dr. Coulter said. “There are chances to engage in community service projects and to apply for scholarships. I urge you to try and get the most out of your PTK membership. I promise you it is worth your time.”

PTK members gathered with family and friends in the theatre lobby after the ceremony for cake, refreshments and photographs.

For more than 100 years, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society has recognized students’ community college academic success and given them opportunities to develop professional and leadership skills, earn scholarships, explore career paths and make their world larger. PTK also strives to provide community and campus service.
