We are pleased to announce that the 2020 winner of the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award is Assistant Professor of English, Richard Russell!
Endowed by the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation of Philadelphia, the Lindback Award is awarded to an Atlantic Cape faculty member who has significantly enhanced the process of student learning. The winner has affected the students' motivation to learn, inspired a greater interest in academic pursuit, and influenced students' lives in a meaningful way. This award reinforces the notion that our core, central purpose is excellence in teaching and learning.
The faculty recipient is recognized for accessibility to students, maintaining high standards, and continual openness to new ideas in academic instruction improvement.
Following an extensive review of nominations from faculty, staff, and students, Richard Russell was recommended by his peer educators to receive the Lindback Award.
A graduate of Atlantic Cape, Professor Russell began teaching at the college in 2007 and was appointed to Assistant Professor of English in 2014. In that time, Professor Russell has impacted many students with his teaching craft, promoting cross-communication, imagination, and a love of learning.
Aside from demonstrating his teaching excellence in the classroom, Professor Russell is an advisor for Rewrites, served as English Department Coordinator, and was one of the faculty members instrumental to the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP).
He was also elected Faculty of the Year and was honored as an Atlantic Cape Distinguished Alumni.
Congratulations, Professor Russell!
