Atlantic Cape is dedicated to providing superior academic programs to a diverse community of students. The online education program is designed to make a college education more accessible to those who cannot earn their degree in the traditional method because of work schedules or other responsibilities.
In online courses, you'll use a computer connected to the Internet to conduct most of your coursework. Through e-mail, discussion boards and online lectures, you and your professors and fellow students gather together for learning that is truly "anyplace, anytime." Successful online students are independent learners who can manage time effectively.
Atlantic Cape uses a learning management system called Blackboard Learn to conduct online courses. Blackboard can be accessed right through a common Web browser. Blackboard has e-mail, discussions, online testing and many other features that will enhance your overall online learning experience. Your course may also use a publisher learning management system to access content and assignments. You will be given very specific information on how to log in to your courses and access your content.
If you are taking an online or remote course, you will be required to use online proctoring through Honorlock for online testing. In order to complete an online exam using Honorlock, students need a functioning webcam and microphone and to meet the minimum technical requirements including the use of the Google Chrome browser with the Honorlock Chrome Extension. You can visit the Online Proctoring page for more information.
The Guide to Shine Online: Helpful Tips to Rock Your Courses video series offers peer-to-peer tips on succeeding in online courses from members of Alpha Delta Mu, Atlantic Cape's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
