Acquisition of Technology
Adopted: 04/23/96Revisions Approved: 02/01/00
Revised: 6/24/08; 5/19/26
The acquisition of information technology resources by any department must comply with the standards, guidelines, and policies established by Information Technology Services (ITS).
ITS is responsible for establishing and maintaining standards for supported hardware, software, and technology configurations used across the College. Only technologies that meet these standards and have been reviewed and approved by ITS may be purchased, implemented, or connected to the College’s network or technology environment.
College-wide technology infrastructure decisions—including but not limited to email systems, file storage platforms, network operating systems, enterprise applications, multi-user systems, and technology diagnostic or management tools—are centrally managed and remain the responsibility of ITS.
All departments must coordinate with ITS prior to acquiring technology to ensure compatibility, security, maintainability, and alignment with institutional technology strategy.
Procurement Review Requirement
All proposed purchases of information technology hardware, software, cloud services, or technology-related services must be reviewed and approved by ITS prior to the issuance of a purchase order or other procurement commitment. This review ensures that proposed technology solutions meet institutional standards, comply with security and data protection requirements, and integrate appropriately with existing college systems and infrastructure.
Unsupported Technology
Information technology resources that are acquired without ITS review and approval, or that do not meet established ITS standards, may be deemed unsupported. ITS reserves the right to limit or decline support for such technologies and may restrict their connection to the College’s network or systems if they present security, operational, or compatibility risks.
